Sustainability Meets Well-being
This project by Etisha and Mahi explores how sustainability can improve mental health in workplaces, creating tools and data-driven insights for a healthier you and planet.
We are Etisha and Mahi, passionate researchers exploring the vital connection between environmental sustainability and mental well-being in workplace settings.
Our goal is to connect sustainability with well-being in office spaces, demonstrating that caring for our planet and caring for ourselves are deeply interconnected. We believe that eco-friendly workplace practices not only benefit the environment but also significantly improve employee mental health and productivity.
Green Minds, Healthy Workplaces
Turn off lights and electronics when not in use. Use natural lighting whenever possible and adjust thermostat settings efficiently.
Implement comprehensive recycling programs, go paperless with digital documents, and use reusable containers for office supplies.
Add indoor plants to improve air quality and create calming environments that boost productivity and reduce stress.
Encourage walking, cycling, public transport, or carpooling to reduce carbon footprint and improve employee health.
Reduced utility bills, lower waste disposal costs, and decreased resource consumption lead to significant financial savings.
Better air quality, reduced exposure to toxins, and increased physical activity contribute to employee wellness.
Lower carbon footprint, reduced waste generation, and conservation of natural resources for future generations.
Companies implementing comprehensive sustainability programs report 25% reduction in operational costs, 30% improvement in employee satisfaction, and 40% decrease in stress-related absences.
Take 5-10 minute breaks every hour. Step outside, practice deep breathing, or do simple stretches to refresh your mind.
Incorporate meditation, mindful eating, or brief mindfulness exercises into your workday to reduce stress and increase focus.
Proper chair height, monitor position, and workspace organization reduce physical strain and improve mental comfort.
Studies show that having plants in the office can reduce stress by up to 37%, improve air quality, and boost creativity and productivity.
Walking or cycling to work increases daily physical activity, improves cardiovascular health, and provides mental clarity through outdoor exposure.
Employees in environmentally conscious workplaces report higher job satisfaction and sense of purpose, leading to better mental health outcomes.
Designate quiet areas with plants and natural lighting for relaxation and mental breaks.
Organize sustainability challenges that bring colleagues together and create shared purpose.
Encourage flexible schedules and remote work options to reduce commuting stress and improve work-life integration.
